So… I am making assembly animation that will take two-three minutes. 10 cameras, each animated, lot of parts moving around… Not working as I expected, movement in animation and render does not match sometimes, switch events not consistent, duplicating already animated cameras leads to file errors and file corruption, etc…
So, I have to make one basic file with cameras set to positions, then instead of making scenes inside file, I have to make copies of these files and to make short “scene” animations inside each file and then to compile separate animations in Adobe Premiere to get full animation.
If we can only copy/paste or export/import selected camera positions and angles between files it would be great.
Hey there, it sounds like you’re having issues with animations. I have found that for something like you described, there is a certain workflow that’s pretty key to getting a successful animation. I hate to promote my own product, but I do have a course KeyShot Animation Masterclass that goes over all of this in painstaking detail. You’re even able to cash in rewards on this community for the course if that’s something you’re interested in.
If you create new cameras in KeyShot, they should appear where the active camera is. So, if you move the cursor to the end of an animated camera, then produce a new one, it should be created where the last one ended. This is how you can create multiple cameras that smoothly transition.
I feel like if you are creating multiple KeyShot files for a single animation, something is broken in your workflow.
I am already in process of getting money approved by company to buy your lessons Will. Thank you for answering and offering solution.
I messed up with duplicating cameras that already had animations in them. I do make new camera at point on timeline where I need it and then make switch to that new camera so I can add animation to it, just sometimes it become to complicated as when you activate new camera timeline hide previous switches and animations… is there any option that can turn that hiding off??
Animation I work on is production assembly process, animation done in CAD (in NX, not optimal, that is why we bought Keyshot) last over 7 minutes, have multiple close ups and lot of camera movement to show details. Timeline after some tome become to heavy and mistakes can corrupt whole file, so I broke process from fade in of particular items/subassemblies to fade them out to switch to other item/subassembly (multiple subassemblies animations then final assembly) so noting is really broken.
Okay, thanks. Hopefully it’ll help you a lot. To answer your question, you can’t change how KeyShot shows animated cameras in the timeline when camera switch events are used. The camera that is shown in the timeline will depend on where the switch event occurs. I do agree this can be confusing.
Hi @ivan.spasic.
I am also working on a technical animation right now. I am new to animation. So many files have been corrupted in the process.
Because of the deadline, I am trying to finish the animation one way or another to send it to the client. But I am thinking about starting all over again after it’s done.
I plan to animate the cameras first, not the objects. Then I will break up the whole thing into multiple files and do the object animations in those files. This way, I won’t have to worry about camera positions. At the end, I will combine them. Just an idea what I can do for long animation.
Hi there, I’m sorry to hear that is the case. I understand that due to currency exchange rates, my courses may be unaffordable in some parts of the world. Unfortunately, I’m not able to adjust pricing based on geographic locaiton with the platform I use.
I will point out however, that you can collect coins on this community platform and exchange them for my courses if that’s something you’d like to do. I appreciate your interest and asking your employer!
I don’t like to talk bad about my country, but the reality is that most bosses in Turkey like to get more work done for less money than invest in their employees.
And yes, I earned 10k and redeemed to your animation masterclass. (thanks for the christmas chellanges) I hope I will access to it soon and I will be a very happy person because I don’t need my boss to invest in me. I can invest myself.
